Brooklyn, N.Y. — Today, the OptOut Media Foundation launched its redesigned website, which now displays aggregated content from the more than 200 financially independent news outlets that make up the OptOut network.

OptOut began building a network of trustworthy news sites, podcasts, and video channels in 2020, starting with a newsletter that aggregates the most important content from these independent publications. In 2022, it launched OptOut News, an aggregation app that's hand-curated by journalists, and its Climate and LGBTQ+ newsletters.

Now, OptOut offers a third way for the public to access quality journalism at no cost. OptOut.news displays the curated news content from the OptOut News app, linking out to the original sources, and it includes the aggregation newsletters and podcasts that OptOut regularly publishes.

"I'm happy to put our new website out into the world. It's a place where news consumers can find trustworthy, independent stories with absolutely no barrier to entry," said OptOut co-founder and executive director Alex Kotch, an investigative journalist. "I'm grateful to our engineers, who put in countless hours to take our site to the next level."

The OptOut Media Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to accurately informing the public by advancing financially independent media and publishing original reporting and podcasts. The Progressive Coders Network, a 501(c)(3) progressive community of tech and non-tech activists building open-source tools to empower the grassroots and reduce the influence of big money in politics, developed the app and website.

OptOut's news network includes staples of independent media such as The Nation, The New Republic, and The American Prospect, state and local outlets from around the U.S., and dozens of podcasts and video channels that offer the public an alternative to traditional media.
